Upgrade from v3.x or Older
Upgrade to P3F CEP v5 from a legacy version.
P3F Community Enhancement Pack was finalized on 05 January 2024.
If you are using P3F CEP v4.0 or newer, these upgrade instructions do not apply and we do not recommend upgrading. See the Final Release FAQ for more information.
If you are upgrading from P3F CEP v3.x or older, you can follow these instructions, but we strongly recommend reading the Final Release FAQ to learn about your other options.
Information on this page may be outdated.
Upgrading P3F CEP is save-safe.
You will not lose your save data and you do not need to start a new game.
Get Ready
Version 4 is the biggest update to P3F CEP yet, so there are some additional steps to the upgrade process. We've written out a full set of upgrade instructions this time to make everything as clear as possible.
Make sure to read the directions entirely. Rushing these steps will result in nothing but frustration.
Upgrade P3F Mods Folder
Rename Old P3F Mods Folder
Your PS2 BIOS, P3F ISO, and save data are all in your old P3F Mods folder.
Instead of deleting your old folder right away, we'll rename it for now so you can copy over your game files and save data later.
Rename your old P3F Mods folder to P3F Mods OLD.

Get New P3F CEP
Download the latest version of P3F CEP now if you haven't already.
Download from GameBanana
Unzip your downloaded P3F CEP archive and locate the P3F Mods folder inside.

Move the P3F Mods folder to the same location as your P3F Mods OLD folder.

Install Prerequisites
Do not skip this step, even if you've already done this before!
The prerequisite installer regularly gets updated with the latest runtimes that contain performance and security fixes.
In a new window, open your new P3F Mods folder, then open the Setup folder.

Update to the latest prerequisites, either by running .Install_Prerequisites.exe in the P3F Mods\Setup folder or by manually installing them.
Copy Old Files
P3F CEP v4 has a brand-new tool called P3F CEP-o-matic that makes upgrading easy! CEP-o-matic will handle putting everything into its proper place in your P3F Mods folder.
Open your P3F Mods OLD\.PCSX2 folder.

Copy the following files into your new P3F Mods\Setup folder:
bios.bin
P3F Mods OLD\.PCSX2\bios folder
P3F Mods\Setup folder
P3F.iso
P3F Mods OLD\.PCSX2\iso folder
P3F Mods\Setup folder
Mcd001.ps2
P3F Mods OLD\.PCSX2\memcards folder
P3F Mods\Setup folder
Mcd002.ps2
P3F Mods OLD\.PCSX2\memcards folder
P3F Mods\Setup folder
Once everything is copied over, your P3F Mods\Setup folder should look like this:

Run CEP-o-matic
Make sure you have everything listed above in your P3F Mods\Setup folder, then launch .Prepare_Files.exe to start CEP-o-matic.
CEP-o-matic will automatically do the following:
Locate your game ISO, verify it is a valid P3F disc image, and rename it to P3F.iso
Extract the SLUS_216.21.elf executable needed to emulate P3F with mods
Locate your PS2 BIOS, either as a packaged BIN file or as a collection of loose files
Locate your PS2 virtual memory cards (save data) Mcd001.ps2 and Mcd002.ps2
Move everything into its correct location in the P3F Mods\Files folder
You don't need to do anything. CEP-o-matic will do all the work for you!

Once the All finished! message appears, press Enter to close the program.
Test Run PCSX2
Before we continue, let's make sure that the new version of PCSX2 can launch P3F and that your save data was copied over properly.
Launch P3F
Open your P3F Mods folder and launch either:
Launch P3F Windowed.bat or
Launch P3F Fullscreen.bat

PCSX2 will open and launch Persona 3 FES. Remember, no mods have been installed yet!
Test P3F
Make sure PCSX2 launches the game, plays the opening cutscene, and shows the title screen.

Select Load Game in the main menu.
Make sure your save data appears and that you can load it into the game.
Moving On
Do not move on until you are sure you can load your save data in the new PCSX2!
If something wasn't working during the test run, double-check the instructions.
If you still can't figure out what's going wrong, you can get support on Discord.
Close PCSX2 completely once you're ready to move on.
To exit fullscreen mode, double-click the game window.
If you have any important files in your P3F Mods OLD\Backups or P3F Mods OLD\Notes folders, copy them into your new P3F Mods folder now.

Once you are sure your save data is working in the new PCSX2 and any important files have been copied over, you can delete your P3F Mods OLD folder.
Upgrade Aemulus Folder
These steps will delete all of your existing Aemulus packages and configs for Persona 3 FES, including packages that are not part of P3F CEP.
Packages for other Persona games will not be changed or deleted.
Make sure to back up anything you want to keep before starting!
Upgrade Packages
Delete Existing P3F Packages
Open your old Aemulus folder.
Open the Packages folder and delete the Persona 3 FES folder inside.

Import P3F CEP Packages
In a separate window, open the new P3F CEP archive you unzipped and locate the Aemulus\Packages\Persona 3 FES folder inside.

Move the Persona 3 FES folder from the archive's Packages folder to your Aemulus folder's Packages folder.

Upgrade Config
Delete Existing P3F Configs
Go back to the base Aemulus directory.
Open the Config folder and delete the Persona 3 FES folder inside.

Do not delete Config.xml or the folders for any other Persona games.
Import P3F CEP Config
In a separate window, open the new P3F CEP archive you unzipped and locate the Aemulus\Config\Persona 3 FES folder inside.
Move the Persona 3 FES folder from the archive's Config folder to your Aemulus folder's Config folder.

Do not move or copy Config.xml.
Update Aemulus
Launch Aemulus.
If you get a prompt to update the program, select Yes.
Once Aemulus has downloaded the update, click OK to restart the program.
Once Aemulus restarts, confirm in the top-right corner of the window that the program is version 6.4.3 or higher.
Configure Aemulus
Some settings in Aemulus need to be configured for the new PCSX2.
Set Game to Persona 3 FES
Make sure the game is set to Persona 3 FES and the loadout is set to P3F CEP.

Set File Paths
The file paths for P3F CEP 4.x are very different than those in previous versions, so you'll need to set them up again.
Open the P3F ⚙️ Config window.
Click Browse to the right of each box and change the file / folder paths to the following:
Output Folder
...\P3F Mods\Files\elf folder
Cheats Folder
...\P3F Mods\Files\cheats folder
Textures Folder
...\P3F Mods\Files\textures\94A82AAA\replacements folder
P3F ISO Path
...\P3F Mods\Files\iso\P3F.iso
P3F ELF Path
...\P3F Mods\Files\elf\SLUS_216.21.elf
PCSX2.exe Path
...\P3F Mods\.PCSX2\pcsx2-qtx64-avx2.exe

When you are done, close the Config window to return to the package grid.
If your old P3F mod setup was working fine, you don't need to unpack base files again.

You're not quite done yet!
